Come celebrate another year of biking, camaraderie, and survival with
BIKE JC, on Tuesday evening, December 11.

Raise a glass, and in the process give a little to the restoration of
Liberty State Park, which was hit hard by Sandy.
A portion of proceeds go to Friends of Liberty State Park. We use the
paths, let's help rebuild them--over beers.

BIKE JC officers will be there to answer questions, provide policy
updates, and even--if stars, moon, and bike wheels align--buy a round.

The 365 Days of Green campaign encourages our residents and local businesses to adopt a sustainable lifestyle. Every person can make a difference, and we are partnering not only with local businesses, but also community groups, to create more opportunities for Jersey City residents to live green. 

Starting May 1st through May 5th, the City of Jersey City has partnered with several organizations to create a whole week of "green" activities. Including this bike tour which showcases many of Jersey City's recreational areas and parks.

Starting at City Hall Park, 16 Mile Bike Tour around Jersey City stopping at various park locations.

The next Bike JC general meeting is February 28, 8 pm, Zeppelin Hall.

We are working on Ward Tour 3. We have a date (click on notes to see
what it is!) and would like *you* to come help!

We are also participating in the Saint Patrick's Day Parade on March
11, at 12 pm. It's a fun event and a great way to display cycling in
JC pride and possibility. We have rolled through it for the past two
years, fraternizing with the good folks at parade's end such as the
Mardi Gras band, JC Food Coop, and the humane society. We will have
more info on how to participate at/after the next meeting.

Bike JC is happy to invited to participate in JC Downtown's All About Downtown Street Fair, Saturday Septemeber 17, 2011. We'll be there with shirts, info and more.

Here are some great animations from Commute Orlando that illustrate good on-road practices. Also see their section On the Road for some tips about courteous cycling.  Remember, being on a bicycle is not a license to disobey traffic laws...  Going the wrong way on one-way streets, using the sidewalk and not signaling turns are all too common behaviors that contribute to the idea that cyclists are 'jerks'.

We'll be riding every 3rd Friday (weather permitting) usually from the Grove St PATH station (near the McDonalds).  Destinations to include Lincoln Park, Liberty State Park, NYC & more. Meeting Tonight! Join us at Zeppelin Hall, 8 pm, Tuesday March 1, to talk about 2011 Ward Tour, bike lanes, bike racks, and rides. Bike JC is also looking for guest bloggers on bike culture and local bike news, and a Ward Tour outreach coordinator. Zeppelin Hall is at 297 Grand Street, in Jersey City, near the Jersey Ave light rail stop.
